During the first week of March, our CEO MIGUEL A. HERNANDEZ participated in a Spanish-Uzbekistan business event in Tashkent which was led by the Spanish Secretary of State (aka Deputy Minister) of Industry, Commerce and Tourism from Spain and Mr Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Commerce from Uzbekistan. The activity was organized by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism supported by the Spanish agencies ICEX, Spanish Chamber of Commerce, and CEOE, and supported by the Spanish Ambassador of Spain in Russia (who oversees Uzbekistan).
The activity comprised more than 40 Spanish companies plus similar quantity of Uzbeks companies in the areas of Energy, Water, Transportation and Agriculture which shows the strong interest of Spanish companies for Uzbekistan which is one of the raising economies worldwide thanks to its ambitious support to deep reforms to make the country attractive for investments.
During the activity, our CEO met several institutions like the Ministry of Energy and the Water company Uzuvtamintot to discuss about sector challenges and ways in which MAI may support their future plans. Likewise, there were several meetings with local companies in order to establish tight commercial links to participate in upcoming projects.
Mercados-Aries International is present in Uzbekistan with several projects in the Energy sector for private developers Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) and ACWA Power, and Total Energies as well as for the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
